Tommy Lanthorn

Thomas Lanthorn has been involved with Youth Football for over 30 years as a father, grandfather, coach, and board member. During the time Thomas severed on the Regional Board, he witnessed the southeast district teams winning 21 titles, including 6 national titles.

Thomas Fredrick Lanthorn was born August 26, 1949 in Norfolk County, Virginia. He married Deborah Zirk Lanthorn in 1968. Youth sports has been part of the Lanthorn family with three sons, Thomas, Michael, and Paul growing up in the Pop Warner association and also granddaughter, Brittany as a cheerleader for nine years.

Tommy retired from Virginia Power after 36 years of service and is now operating Lanthorn Construction.

Throughout his life, Tommy volunteered with many organizations and served on several boards pertaining to volunteer services engaged with the community and youth. Beginning in 1976, Tommy began coaching Portsmouth City League youth football and baseball. In 1978, He was instrumental in bring Pop Warner to Virginia. During the years of 1978 through 1983 he coached for the Pop Warner League. From 1983 to 2004 he held the position of Vice President and President on the board of Pop Warner Youth. In 2000 to 2004, Tommy was elected to serve as Vice Regional Director of the Mid-South Region. In 2005, he strived to bring the American Youth Football to Virginia. Since that time, Tommy has been serving as the President of the Hampton Roads American Youth Football Association.
