Coach and Player Selection Process

For the All-Star Cheer Team, Please contact your AYC Regional Representative.

The Under Armour / AYF All-American Football All-Star team is made up of the oldest participants (Midgets) or
those participants that will be graduating from youth league participation. Participants will have no weight
requirements and must have participated during the current AYF season.

Basic Guidelines:

Coaching Selection:
1) Conferences must develop their own system for Coaching nominations. All nominations should
be made to the National Football Commissioner.
2) Coach Nominations should be coaches who have a history with the organization.
3) Coach Nominations Must be coaches who have demonstrated not only the competence one
would expect from a football coach but one who demonstrates the understanding that while every
game is played to win, the point of this event goes past the wining and loosing, it is a great
opportunity for the kids to experience lessons in life that will go way beyond the win or loss of
the game. Therefore the coach must have a It s For The Kids attitude and demonstrate the
highest of moral integrity and character as described in the National Rulebook under section 17,
Coaches who use foul language with or in front of the kids should be deemed unacceptable for
appointment.

Player Selection:
1) Associations must develop their own system for player nominations
2) Association selections must be done to insure an even number of Lineman and Skill type players
are ultimately nominated to make up the team.
3) The player selection process must include a scholastic component. This means that the process
should encourage academic achievement.
4) Participants have no weight restriction
5) Only players who, by the September 15th deadline, were certified, rostered and actively participated
with their team during the entire regular season are eligible.
6) Player nomination and selection should not only take into account a players physical abilities but
should consider their contributions and adherence to the five core values attributed to the term
Athlete as described below.

Conference Requirements:
1) Team Administrators must certify that each player nominated and selected were properly
rostered and certified (submitted all of the required documentation) to their respective team by
the September 15th deadline.
2) Conferences are required to provide with each players documentation a photo copy of the roster
they were certified to, and that was submitted by the October 1st deadline. Please highlight the
player name on the roster they are from.
3) Team Administrators must certify that each player actively participated with their team for the
entire season. This can be done by receiving a photo copy of any of the following documents;
Weekly MPR sheets, Weekly Weigh-in sheets, Player Tacking Cards; some form of written
documentation will be required.
4) Team Administrators are required to insure that all coaches have received a background check
and have been cleared by the Association they are affiliated with as required during their regular
season participation. In addition to this requirement the Conference must review the Associations
background check documentation and complete its own review and approval process.
5) Team Administrators must complete a roster for this new All-Star team via the documentation
provided by the National Office.

5 CORE VALUES

Respect

Those associated with sport show respect by treating themselves, other persons, institutions and their
sport according to the highest standards of conduct. It implies civilized and gracious behavior to players,
coaches, fans and parents.

Responsibility

Athletes show responsibility by making academic progress toward graduation their top priority. They
solve problems rather than make excuses, and are reliable team players. Students should be accountable
for their actions and decisions, and coaches and administrators should maintain high standards of
competence and conduct.

Integrity

For student competitors and their coaches, integrity means keeping commitments and conducting honest
behavior. Coaches must subscribe to and practice the Coaches Code and Code of Ethics, and student-
athletes must know and understand the Champions of Character Student-Athlete Pledge.

Servant Leadership

This core value refers to putting the group first and becoming responsible for personal and group roles
while performing at your best. Students demonstrating servant leadership have a primary purpose of
serving others while striving to become a personal and team leader. The servant-leader provides a
critical service to society and the great gift of good example.

Sportsmanship

The conduct of educational sports according to the highest standards is our expectation for
sportsmanship. Administrators, coaches, students, fans and parents are expected to act correctly even
when others do not, and demonstrate fairness and equity in all contests and relationships.
