Bill Nevits

Bill grew up playing sandlot and high school football in Cleveland, Ohio. He then played two years of service football with Norfolk Tars and freshman football at Ohio University. He started coaching the New Hartford Bears, a Pop Warner midget level team, in 1971. He accepted head coach and program administrator responsibilities in 1974 and was elected secretary-treasurer of the Tri County Central Youth Football League in 1978. Tri County Central joined American Youth Football in 2001 in order to establish age and weight limits compatible with local area school systems. Bill continues to function in his administrative responsibilities as well as head coach of the New Hartford Bears, which is now an AYF Division II Jr. Middie Team. His trophy case displays 11 team championship trophies and his wall displays a number of plaques, including several scholastic achievement plaques won by the Bears.
